Weekly Recipe
This week's recipe is Shoyu ("show-you"; soy sauce) Chicken.
This is definitely a local favorite!
SHOYU CHICKEN
Ingredients:
- 12 chicken thighs (thighs work best)
- 2 cups shoyu (soy sauce)
- 2 cups water
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 cup sugar (you may need more or less depending on your taste)
Instructions:
- Pour the shoyu (soy sauce), water, garlic, onion, and sugar into a large pot (large enough to fit the chicken thighs).
- Heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Once the sugar is dissolved, if its too sour, add more sugar, if it is too salty, add more water.
- Once you have the sauce to your liking, put the chicken in and let it simmer for 45 minutes.
You can serve this with rice or noodles.
