Spring Home Tune-Up

• Check for mildew.
• Check exterior of home for cracks or water damage.
• Check fire extinguishers - get them recharged if necessary.
• Check roof for cracks or loose shingles.
• Check the batteries in your smoke alarms.
• Check your sprinkler system and any outside faucets.
• Check the weather stripping on all exterior doors and windows.
• Clean or replace throw rugs and door mats.
• Clean and repair patio furniture.
• Clean filter above range, heaters and air conditioners.
• Clean gutters or downspouts.
• Clean light fixtures, especially ceiling ones.
• Clean woodwork, window sills and vents.
• Clear away clutter.
• Deep-clean vinyl, laminate or wood floors.
• Dust the tops of door frames and baseboards.
• Have the gardening tools sharpened.
• Let the spring air naturally deodorize the rooms.
• Refill or replace items in your emergency / first aid kit(s).
• Spot-clean walls and ceilings.
• Use a new vacuum bag & vacuum everything you can.
• Vacuum mattresses and flip them.
• Wash windows.
